This course bundle has been compiled specifically for the training of citizens who would respond to trauma casualties in an emergency or crisis situation. Unlike First Aid, the training package provides the knowledge and skills to effectively manage major trauma - such as can be caused by gunshot wounds, vehicle accidents ect. Students are taught how to approach and asses' casualties, prioritize their treatments, and provide life saving interventions such as stopping major bleeds, maintaining airways, and preventing or addressing hypothermia. The bundle includes a course on hypothermia and one module on cold water submersion and survival.
The knowledge and skills taught in these courses were largely developed in war over the last two decades, where it was found that the use of these interventions on the battlefield greatly increased the survival rate of wounded soldiers.
Access to the courses is for 3 years from the course start date.
