Direct Threat Care (DTC)

The Direct Threat Care (DTC) course teaches law enforcement personnel how to deliver lifesaving interventions while under active threat. This foundational training focuses on stabilizing casualties in high-risk situations where rapid and effective action is critical.

DTC is the first step in the law enforcement tactical medical continuum, preparing officers for advanced courses such as Tactical Trauma Care (TTC) and Prolonged Casualty Care (PCC)

Level 1 Pistol – DTC

Prerequisites:

Course Description:
This course provides officers with foundational skills to manage casualties while under direct threat, integrated with the use of the service pistol. Emphasis is placed on rapid decision-making, effective medical interventions, and maintaining operational effectiveness in high-risk law enforcement situations.

Level 1 Carbine – DTC

Prerequisites:

Course Description:
This course focuses on the integration of direct threat care with carbine operations. Students will develop practical skills for managing casualties while engaging or maneuvering under threat, ensuring both personal and team effectiveness.

Level 2 Mixed Weapons – DTC

Prerequisites:
Level 1 Pistol or Carbine (recommended)

Course Content:

  • Advanced Threat Assessment
  • Managing Multiple Weapons Platforms During Self Aid
  • Dynamic Movement and Cover Utilization
  • TQ Self Application

Course Description:
Level 2 prepares officers to integrate multiple weapon platforms into direct threat care. Emphasis is on decision-making, multi-threat management, and rapid self aid during complex tactical scenarios.

Level 3 Teams – DTC

  • Advanced Extraction Techniques

Level 3 focuses on team-based operations, teaching officers how to deliver coordinated direct threat care while maintaining mission objectives. Students will practice multi-person extraction and casualty stabilization under realistic tactical scenarios.

  • Leadership, Decision-Making, and Oversight of Team Operations

Level 4 trains advanced teams to operate effectively under high-risk, multi-threat scenarios. Students will refine leadership and coordination skills to manage multiple casualties while executing mission objectives in complex law enforcement operations.
