SAR MED Skill Comprehensive (TM)
Prerequisites:
Completion of a recognized medical provider course (EMR, WFR, EMT, Paramedic, or equivalent). Prior SAR experience strongly recommended.

- Comprehensive patient assessment in austere and remote SAR environments
- Advanced trauma management with limited equipment and delayed evacuation
- Prolonged field care principles for extended operations
- Medical decision-making under operational constraints
- Environmental and exposure-related injuries
- Medical considerations for rope, technical, and wilderness rescue
- Casualty packaging, movement, and evacuation planning
- Team-based medical care integration within SAR operations
- Risk management and provider safety in complex rescue environments
This course provides a comprehensive approach to medical care for Search and Rescue personnel operating in demanding and resource-limited environments. SAR MED Skill Comprehensive (TM) expands upon foundational SAR medical concepts and focuses on delivering effective medical care during prolonged missions, complex rescues, and delayed access to higher-level care.
Students will develop advanced problem-solving skills and learn to adapt medical techniques to real-world SAR challenges. Training emphasizes practical application, team coordination, and decision-making under stress, ensuring providers can deliver safe and effective care while supporting overall mission objectives.
